what would I say…

I saw the Japanese movie Departure today.

Its good.

But that part that got me thinking was this scene…the eldery employee of the crematorium was about the start the fire of a coffin, and of course the body, whom he actually knew very well. The deceased was a lady who owned a local public bath that he went to regularly and they got to be good friends.

He said that death was a door and that he would be her soon.

Now if someone, who is not a Cian, were to tell me that, do I say..er..well..actually, according to what I know….not going to happen?

Or do I keep quiet and pretend that what he said was true, and in effect lie?

Nature why huh?

Ganets have no nostril holes in their beaks.

Cheetahs have their claws permanently extended.

Just found that out today!

English why huh….

English is such a chap ching language its both amazing and annoying.

Take Electron/Electra for instance. The family of words related to electricity is based on this root form of the word; hence electrons, electronics, electromagnetics etc, and of course electricity. So the “elec” words conjures up an image of “zapping”, “power”, “power generation”, gadgets etc.

But actually, its greek rook, electron, is actually the word for the hard brownish transparent material known as Amber.

So strictly speaking, instead of electricity, we should be using “ambercity”?

Love thy neighbour…

J was quoted to have said that greater love hath no man the a man giving his life for his friends.

Indeed, I may discovered the nearest to that.

During the the recent Israeli bombing of Gaza the story of a Palestinian doctor was reported in BBC.

He lived with he large family in Gaza. He had 8 daugthers I think. He would travel to Israel to treat his patients and was loved by his patients, if not by the very people who knew him.

One day, a bomb dropped into his home and killed 3 of his daughters. If I am not mistaken, 2 had their heads blown away!

He cried, he mourned, his world crumbled, and yet weeks later, he stands up and he still urges peace between those who killed his daugthers and his people. He bears no grudges and hopes that his remaining daugthers would out their sister’s dreams.

Amazing, how many of us have hated for so much less?

domination and awe…

dscf2274
No one in Singapore will ever appreciate how the twin towers in KL dominates the city until they are seen fully lit at night. They literally rise head and shoulders and then some over all the other buildings and captures your breathe.

(Due to the limiations of my camera, I had to capture the towers at about 1/10 of its brightness.)

Notwithstanding the economic downturn, they are lit till they literally glow in the dark and appear white!

Even in the day time, its sheer presense is er…present?

dscf2185

Maybe Singapore should have something like this too.

words words words

Parents would name their daugther Lucy or Lucinda but not their son Lucifer, though they are from the same root word, why? Ignorantial information?

In the word DEVINE, there is the root DEVI which is from Sanskrit meaning god, hence we get names like Devi. But in English, it shares the same 4 letters of DEVIL, so is there something devilish in the devine?

What about to demonstrate, ie, to make clear or to show to spread understanding? Afterall, there is a demon in demonstrate so does it support the bible story that the evil in all of us is to understand, ie, having taken the tree of knowledge of good and evil?

Why Cianity to me is more then just J…

I was speaking with my wife the otherday about punishment vs love.

And I thought to myself the many times I have threatened to punish my sons and yet when the infraction is committed, I either dish out a lesser form or not at all and let it go…

Which got me thinking…maybe that was what happened in the GofE?

After all, if G is a loving G, then maybe in his heart of hearts he could not actually dish out the punishment and gave us a lesser punishment…which would fit perfectly with what I feel about my own sons, and indeed many parents with their own children.

But then this got me thinking, I only do this when the infraction is not that serious really so maybe the tree of the knowledge of good and evil actually was not that bad, just that A just was told not to…

Now the frightening thing is this:- why of all religions, would the writer of Gsis model G this way, probably based on his own experiences with his own children?

Why be so radical when gods then were whimsical superbeings with their own foibles?

Having said that… there is a parallel in Amarna where strangely the Pharoah started depicting his family in very loving loses as opposed to the stylised manner of his predecessors…
